Meeting Minutes
November 2, 2011
The Human Resources Committee met Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at The District offices at 245 Main Street, Cromwell, Connecticut.
The Chair, Tom Tokarz called the meeting to order at 6 PM. In addition to the Chair, present were Committee Members - Gerry Amodio, Jim McNair and Doug Sienna. Committee Member - Angelo D'Alfonso was absent. There was a quorum. Also present were Board Chairman - Bill Candelori, Board Members - Peter Centurelli and Ed Sasso, District Counsel - Diane Chace and Executive Director - Brian Armet.
The following is a summary of the meeting:
1) Personnel Staffing Levels
The Executive Director informed the Committee of The District's Operations Manager - Shane McCannon's resignation, effective November 18, 2011, to take a Plant Superintendent's Position with Veolia Water at their Plymouth, Massachusetts' facilities. The Executive Director reviewed, with the Committee, in house candidates, and a critical requirement of the Position: must have a Grade IV Operators Certificate or the ability to obtain a Grade IV Certificate. He reviewed the Position's pay scale with the Committee and the pay scale of one of the potential in-house candidate. He also stated that The District is required to post the Position in-house. It was determined that the Position had to be posted for seven working days and that The District could advertise externally during the internal posting.
2) Union Agreements - Executive Session
Mr. Sienna moved Mr. Amodio seconded, and the committee approved unanimously to go into Executive Session at 6:25 PM with Board Chairman - Bill Candelori, Board Members - Peter Centurelli and Ed Sasso, District Counsel - Diane Chace and Executive Director - Brian W. Armet to discuss the upcoming renewal of The District's Union Agreements.
Mr. McNair moved Mr. Amodio seconded, and the committee approved unanimously to come out of Executive Session at 7:10 PM.
